The internet accumulates ruins. Geocities closes today.
I had a Geocities account once. I never used it. I had a presence at XOOM -- and that had been Fortunecities or something like that before. Both died years ago. Today Yahoo shut the doors on Geocities. A pioneer in giving free webspace to people. A fantastic dotcom success. An equally fantastic bust.
And now the object of nostalgia.
